About Ellon Cottage

Ellon Cottage sits in the heart of the Scottish Highlands near Nethy Bridge. This 4-star traditional stone cottage sleeps 4 guests in complete privacy with stunning mountain views. No neighbors. No passing traffic. Just you and the wild Scottish landscape. Perfect for anyone who wants to escape the world but still have a damn good WiFi connection.

The setting is spectacular. Rolling hills stretch out before you with the Cairngorms dominating the horizon. Wildlife visits daily - deer wander past your windows, red squirrels scamper nearby and one particularly sociable pheasant might pop by to say hello. Stargazing from the wood-fired hot tub is absolutely magical on clear nights. You'll see more stars than you knew existed.

Inside, you'll find two bedrooms (one double, one twin) with traditional furnishings throughout. The kitchen comes fully equipped with everything you need including dishwasher, coffee machine and washer/dryer. Two wood burners keep things toasty - one in the lounge beside the Smart TV, another in the kitchen/dining area. Just mind your head upstairs where ceiling heights drop below 2 meters!

Explore the Speyside Whisky Trail (15 miles), try white water rafting on the River Findhorn (25 miles/40 mins), visit Loch Garten Osprey Centre (5 miles/10 mins), or head to Aviemore (12 miles/20 mins) for shopping and activities. We had a lovely stay here in March 2023, perfect for bird watching. From the patio, we spotted White Tailed Eagles, Ravens, Black Grouse, Redpollsand Goshawks. The location is fantasticand the place itself was cosy, cleanand well-equipped. The low ceilings upstairs took a bit of getting used to, but it wasn’t a big deal.
